A McKenzie Friend is someone who provides support in Divorce proceedings and reduces the stress commonly experienced by divorcing couples and reduces legal fees.
I can guide and mentor you through the often lengthy and daunting paperwork and processes involved in Family Matters and support you to produce effective Statements as required for Court Hearings.
I can also support you through Court Hearings by providing help when you find the language of the Court confusing whilst ensuring that you, as a Litigant in Person, remain in control of your case.
An individual can choose to represent themselves in court (Litigant in Person) to save on legal fees but most people have no idea where to begin and find court process and proceedings intimidating and challenging to understand.
Whilst a McKenzie Friend is not usually a trained solicitor and has no right to speak on your behalf in court, they can help you understand the process and what is expected of you.
McKenzie Friends can also provide emotional support assisting you to take a measured, balanced and focussed approach to your case.
Not only do I have personal experience of acting as a Litigant in Person (LiP), I have completed McKenzie Friend training modules in Introduction to Family Law, Divorce and Ancillary Relief (Financial).
Training also includes:
Child Arrangements
Safeguarding Children
Evidential Statement Writing
Fact Finding Hearings
Non Molestation and Occupation Orders
Coercive Control
Narcissistic Behaviours
Physical/Sexual Abuse
Financial Arrangements
Specific Issues
